Our History
BAE was founded in 1986, dedicated to serving clients in northern California with the highest-quality urban and real estate economics analysis. The firm name of Bay Area Economics was selected, to reflect the regional focus of the practice.
In 1993, after steady growth and a building reputation, the firm incorporated as BAE Urban Economics, to distinguish its name from several non-profit organizations in the region. However, the firm continued to use its founding name, Bay Area Economics (BAE), in everyday business. A branch office in Davis, CA was opened in 1995.
The firm grew into a national practice in 1998, with the opening of an office in Washington DC. While our business name was by then widely known and published, the regional association with our roots was beginning to feel outdated. Our logo was changed to emphasize the initials BAE.
During the 2000 decade, we opened additional offices in NYC and Los Angeles.
In 2011, in honor of our 25th anniversary and our well-established national practice, we completed the circle and adopted our corporate name as our operating name: BAE Urban Economics.
