Downtown Tourism Profile
Livermore, California
BAE was engaged by Livermore Downtown, Inc., the non-profit organization dedicated to promoting downtown Livermore as a place to eat, shop, and play. As a member of the California Main Street Association, Livermore Downtown takes a holistic approach towards economic development, by promoting historic preservation, assisting downtown merchants, and supporting a coordinated approach to design and development.
For this project, BAE prepared a brief demographic and economic overview of the City, highlighting key indicators of growth in the Tri-Valley. BAE prepared profiles of potential attractions in and near Downtown Livermore that serve as demand generators for increased visitation. These demand generators are key drivers of market potential to support development of new hotel rooms, event venues, and other facilities. The existing collection of attraction assets, spanning shopping, eating and drinking, sports, performing arts, and other unique facilities, together form a strong visitor network to build upon. BAE surveyed the owner or manager of each facility and conducted a detailed interview to obtain information on the attraction or event as well as obtain visitor characteristics data. Based upon its survey of facility owners and managers, BAE prepared set of recommendations and “next steps” to strengthen the City’s efforts to attract more visitors to its downtown.
