Moving Forward: Comprehensive Plan Progress Report
District of Columbia
BAE led a team of consultants to prepare the May 2013 edition of the DC Comprehensive Plan Progress Report. This document outlines key sustainable development progress, and resulting changes in demographic, economic, and investment patterns throughout the District. BAE’s work included preparing a companion DataBook, with more than 50 presentation slides and supported data tables illustrating trends from 2000 to 2011, including household composition, employment by industry sector, TOD development by product type, and a host of other variables.
In addition, BAE profiled several innovative data sets, including green roofs, stormwater runoff projects, and aspects of the “sharing economy” such as bike share rentals, car share statistics, and Airbnb temporary lodging rental nights obtained from private companies. Key findings from the DataBook were also translated by a graphic artist into eye-catching infographics within the summary document. BAE also provided a recommended series of ongoing indicators to capture change over time in the District, at both the citywide and neighborhood plan levels.
